Proper way to dispose of used oil filters

Local GM dealer has a crusher machine for oil filters. They punch hole (device that does it) in the end and let them sit on a grated collection tank to drain and then put them in a small compact crusher, toss them in drum to be picked up by a local service company. That company takes assorted things like oil, batteries, tires etc. The dealer pays for this service.

don't worry about the oil soaked paper towels, as long as they don't self combust in your garage, the sanitary land fill microbes, germs and bacteria turn it into methane along with the tons of plastic loaded diapers.
makes for a nice flame show at night
