Yes, and Donaldson themselves make almost NOTHING outside of oil burner apps. frown

+1.....IMO,The top-shelf oils (M-1, PP, M-1EP, Castrol Edge,PU) are priced so well that its hard to understand how Amsoil can continue, especially with their marketing program.

Most, if not all of the oils above, are IMO, as good as any Amsoil oil, have long OCI's (10K +), and can be easily obtained at great prices at Walmart.

When you can purchase a 15K filter such as the Fram Ultra, with high efficiency and a price under $9 at WM, why would anyone pay so much more for oil and filters that are at best equal.

But, there are always those who think that paying more equals better quality, which IMO is not the case here.

I tend to look at it the other way, i.e.; the prices of some of these 'on the shelf' synthetics (EVEN at Sino Mart, in quart bottles at least) are creeping up to the point of "why NOT spend only a little extra on the stouter add pack boutique stuff??"

Back to the point.....

I love the EA filters. I ran the last one for a good while before replacing it. It still looked clean after a fair amount of cleanings and use.

Only the good products die young I guess. The main reason I use Amsoil is the quality is very good. I can trust that.

Oh where can I find a synthetic compressor oil from......Oh Amsoil of course.

They make a lot of the more common gas application filters too, but only with standard paper; Nothing in the synthetic material.

Hard to understand your Walmart stance.

Walmart hung on with a strong buy USA effort longer than most retailers.

The problem is the USA is "Chinaworld."

Your government sold all of us out with their policies, like most-favored nation status, NAFTA, etc., etc., many years ago.

OK to discuss filters, but not politics, guys.
Be forewarned.

The act of preventative maintenance, in and of itself, is FAR MORE important than brand/grade/base choices among lubes and filters.
- under maintaining something is akin to abuse/neglect; that can kill equipment by shortening the lifespan
- over maintaining something has never been proven to be anything but a waste of time and money

Wal Mart is trying out a new buy american campaign. Pledging to spend an additional $50 billion over the next 10 years on U.S. made products. I hope it works out. Could be beneficial to WalMart and the U.S. manufacturing job market.

So what really did Donaldson do to create an Amsoil filter other than a different paint job?

Can't you just buy the Donaldson synthetic filter and call it good?

I used to buy Donaldson filters through a diesel parts supplier, but last time I stopped in they said I could only purchase by the case.

All Donaldson did is create the technology, patent it, and allow Amsoil to use it (through a license).
The actual filters were made by another manufacturer. It certain cases they were actually Donaldson filters (The EAO11 on my Vic is Donaldson, but Ive seen pics of newer ones and they are not anymore) but they never had a Donaldson equivalent. They were custom made.
If you try to look up a filter on Donaldsons site, unless you have a heavy diesel, you are going to only find paper filters.

I just bought two Amsoil EA filters for my Element. They were only $11 each (with preferred customer discount). They were twice that amount just a few weeks ago. Not sure if they are clearance pricing them or what, but I jumped on the deal.

Just checked the filters for mine, still full price. Will keep an eye on it now though.
