Recently, I messed up big time and started to install a new fuel filter before making sure it was the correct fit. Unfortunately, the filter I require has a 5/16" input and a 3/8" output and the one I have is 5/16", both sides. Worst part is that now I don't have enough clearance to get my ford line tool on the line to pop it back out Rather than cutting it out I've found a possible fitting that might help. Question is will the output end fit into the 3/8" ford line housing that is there. In other words with that end have the same connecting that the nub on an actual filter would? Any helps would be greatly appreciated as well as any suggestions as to a resolution to the problem...maybe something other than the adapter? thanks

It seems to me that the easiest thing to do would be to cut the end of the filter off, then use the disconnect tool you already have so you can put the correct filter in there.

Alternatively, you could get a flexible plastic disconnect tool and force it into place. This also works.
