Odd that it's called "longlife" just like the BMW approval, but it isn't formally approved. They also didn't go for VW 502/505.

No "XTL" in the name either...

Nope, the XTL oils don't have a 0w-40 or an LL-01 oil IIRC

Isn't LL-04 low-SAPS though? or at least mid-SAPS? I was under the impression that LL-01 was full-SAPS

AFAIK, only Fuchs GT1 mid/low Saps formulas have XTL technology.

Supersyn is full Saps (LL01)
GT1 is mid/low Saps (LL04)

They seem to recommend GT1 over the Supersyn, even for my '95 Fiat, GT1 5w40 is their prime recommendation.

Yes, but I thought that all LL-04 oils are okay to use in LL-01 applications? BMW has even spec'd some LL-04 oils for LL-01 cars; for shorter intervals I wouldn't be worried.

I suspect it will be HTHS of 3.6 or 3.7, with a VI in the mid-170s. Probably a TBN around 10.

That's the problem with any oil brand when you can buy M1 0W40 5-qt for $25. It's very very difficult to find a better oil for the same amount or less.

If you don't have WM around (very few people do) then normal price of $8-9 a quart at auto pats store can be beat.

In Germany and other EU countries you can get it onAmazon for the same price as Castrol or SHell.
However, Castrol i the EU is MUCH better the Castrol in the US, so there is no that popular belief that one is so much better then the other one, nor you have just one Castrol that is premium product (GC).

What is your definition of a "premium product"? If you go by the specs it meets, then Castrol Edge 0w-40 that we have here should also be considered a premium product.

Yes, sometimes it amazes me that some the (exorbibtantly priced here) 'boutique' oils are actually less costly than M1 in some of these countries, especially in the Antipodes/S-Pac island area.
