Have a 2006 Saab 9-7x that has 18" rims w/ 255/55/18 tires. Overall calculated height at around 29". I hate the options in this size as there are few and I've tried most of them, aka the softer compound tires wear quickly.

They are the same platform as Chevy Trailblazers, Envoys, etc but lowered about an inch so I'm leary to go by the trial and error results for those vehicles and there is very little on the 9-7x. A later model 2009 Aero used a 255/50/20 for a calculated height of 30", so that seems likely safe. I was looking to go with 265/60/18 since the combination of 265 and 60 height opens up the flood gates to choices. Anyone try 265/60/18 on a 9-7x? I believe 245/60/18 is a lock, but I'd prefer 265.

Tire calculator that compares sizes - www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

General rule - up 10 first number, down 5 second.
Third number is rim size, messing with that gets expensive...

Hence, 185/65R15 can be changed to 195/60R15....
I went with 205/60R15, a little taller, but better mileage....
Make sure tire fits on the rim..
First number is tread width in millimeters,
second is sidewall height as a percentage of treadwear (60% of 205)
