Ford 4.6 oil capacity

Some engines will let you squeeze in an extra quart. I'm not sure about the
Ford 4.6L, but in a Buick 3.8L, you can go a quart over no problem. It's my
opinion that all passenger car engines should have a minimum 6 quart sump.
Some of these cars with the 4 quart sump is bad engineering IMO.

Ford actually backspeced that motor to a 20 grade. Don't hesitate to go to a 0W-20. All of Ford's recent engines do extremely well on 20's, especially the modular V8's which you have; I owning 2.

When I switched over to Mobil 0W-20 in my F-150 which had been run on 5W-30 conventional all its life, it got rid of a shaky hesitation and quieted down the valve-train significantly. To this day, the oil and even coolant levels never move.

f.y.i. - 6 quarts on both modulars in my signature
