So I have a ton of LOL $5 off $5 remaining and I think I'm done with the deals on closeout stuff. I am thinking the O'Reilly synthetic is a good way to use them up (after a few more oil filters and random stuff). Which of these viscosities would you choose for an '06 Prius with just over 100K miles in AZ?

Not really related, but would you be comfortable running the 5w30 in a Subaru turbo?

Thanks, Doug

You can run 5w30 in the turbo subby but be very conservative with oci cuz it will shear it to nothing in a hurry. Probably 3000 miles depending on the brand.

Right, but the Idemitsu is better than the O'Reilly, no? What about the Prius

Thanks, Doug

I meant to mention that the car probably has about half its miles on Motorcraft 5w20 synblend with the balance a variety of 5w30s. If the oil has affected fuel economy, I haven't noticed it...

Probably, But using the severe service schedule (3750 mile OCI) the O'Reilly will be fine.
