Chevy actually eventually took it to 4.125 in × 3.75 in giving 400 cu in (6.6L). I believe they were all/most 2bbl.

Different blocks guys. You can't bore a 307 to a 4.00" bore. If you did, the thin cylinder walls wouldn't last a trip to the grocery store.

I had a '76 Monte Carlo with a 350 while I was in high school in the late 80's / early 90's. I worked in the local GM dealership after school and they let me use their hoists, etc when it needed service so there was no real excuse for not changing fluids at their scheduled intevals. That being said, I always put 10W-30 in it. Beyond that, it got no special treatment, served me well and I wish I still had it. It died in 1993 with 167,000 on the clock when the timing chain broke.
