Looking for an accurate number for base curb weight so I can subtract it from the GVWR to get a max payload number. Looked in owners manual, no joy.

Engine is a 7.5l, 460 cubic-inch V8
Axle type capacity shows 6250lbs.

I looked on the state DOT certificate, but they don't have the right info. Says this truck is a 3/4 ton, empty weight is 4900lbs. Gross weight is 6400lbs. (The GVWR on the body sticker says 8800 lbs), and the carrying capacity is 1500lbs. That's too low. (My 98 Volvo wagon has a carrying capacity of 890 lbs).

Any ideas?

That would definitely answer the question. I wonder where the closest one is? A general number would get me in the ballpark for now.

Looks like F250 came with 3.31 and 4.10 gears per the chart with the 351 engine.

F250 2 wheel drive 3.31 gears regular cab GCWR is 11,500, max trailer weight is 6,700

F250HD 2 wheel drive 3.31 gears regular cab GCWR is 11,500, max trailer weight is 6,500 (not a typo)

F250 4 wheel drive 3.31 gears regular cab GCWR is 11,500, max trailer weight is 6,200

F250 2 wheel drive 4.10 gears regular cab GCWR is 13,000, max trailer weight is 8,200

F250HD 2 wheel drive 4.10 gears regular cab GCWR is 13,000, max trailer weight is 8,000 (still not a typo)

F250 4 wheel drive 4.10 gears regular cab GCWR is 13,000, max trailer weight is 7,700

F250HD 2 wheel drive 3.31 gears extended cab GCWR is 11,500, max trailer weight is 6,300

F250 4 wheel drive 3.31 gears extended cab GCWR is 11,500, max trailer weight is 5,900

F250HD 2 wheel drive 4.10 gears extended cab GCWR is 13,000, max trailer weight is 7,800

F250 4 wheel drive 4.10 gears extended cab GCWR is 13,000, max trailer weight is 7,400

I hope this helps. PM I can provide you with a email of someone who has the owners manual in a word document. Sorry do not have info on the 7.5 only 5.8.

This one has a 4.10 rear end, is RWD and has a rear seat but no rear doors.

I noticed while reading the owners manual it stated use of a slide-on camper shell is not recommended. Surely that can't be due to weight? This truck is a beast.

The 4700 curb weight would be the lightest duty base model f250 made. 6-cylinder, mt, lightest axle, no AC etc. Your XLT is not the base model and will have options and extras. My 87 F250 W/extra cab which is the same basic body style as your 95 weighed #7000 with it's camper shell and full running boards. After removing the camper and boards it weighs #6500.

I had to weigh it the first time at the local truck scales for DMV reasons. The 2nd time was at the local landfill where they weigh you coming in and leaving then charge you by the pound.

Yours will be similiar to mine. Since it is a few years newer it may be slightly lighter. I'm guessing #6000-6200.

Now go weigh it and tell us!

My 3500 Dodge club cab with Cummins is 8k. I bet yours is 6k or so. The slide in camper they refer to is not a SHELL. Its a large loaded, shower, commode etc. camper. None of the manufactures recommends one in single rear wheel trucks. Rollover issues??

My f150 came with a sticker saying don't turn it into an ambulance. Really? It would have looked like one of the ones on M*A*S*H.

Our local Municipality dump has a truck scales reporting to 0.01 metric tonnes. (to within 22 pounds)

Failing that, if you have a grain elevator/COOP in your area, they'll often weigh you for a nominal fee. Also as mentioned, you could probably go to the landfill (yuck) and get weighed for a small fee.

As long as we're guessing, I'd say at least 6k.

92 F350 CrewCab 4x4 weighs about 6500 lbs unloaded, according to the scale at the local landfill.

According to Truck Trend a 1995 base extended cab F250 curb weight is 1929Kilos=4250 pounds.

According to Car Max the curb weight is 4775 pounds.

OK. That makes sense. I've only seen the 'shells', never the full-meal-deal campers.

You ought to be able to find a truck scale at the nearest truck stop... yellow and black "Cat Scales" signs. Gotta stretch to reach the buttons but you can do it

I had to weight my little Tacoma to get plates here in Cali. my search on the web turned up hardly anything as far as scales, but I drove into the small town I live in and there has to be at least 3 of them. Just aren't listed on the web. take a look around you'll see one closer to you than you think. BTW my truck was only 3100 pounds!
