Which method typically helps store an oil filter longer, shrink wrapping or cardboard boxing? I guess the former maybe because there's less air/humidity in the filter that may lead to rust? How about the gasket?

Put mine is a zip-lock bag with air squeezed out, then put that back in the original box.

I take cling rap and cover the open end, then back into the original box. My filters (and oil) are stored in the basement, so there is not much temperature/humidity change.

I do mine as is with top of the oil filter facing down inside the box. The weight of the filter with help of it's gasket seals the inside components. If really live in humid area, seal the box with any kind of tape like scotch tape, masking tape or electrical tape.
