At 15 (39 now) I "helped" out at my Grandfather's friends auto shop. I did oil changes and things like fuel filters, plug/wire changes. I always saw them rebuilding motors and ususally seating everythign using Myseter Oil.

Since my first ride (Z28!!!! YA!) I've always used 2oz Mystery Oil per cylinder at each oil change. Anybody else do that??? What do you think of that practice?

I used to do that too. But don't anymore, modern oils are so good there is no need for it.

I leave it on the shelf at Walmart. No oil additives.

I don't put it in the cylinders since it requires me to remove the coil packs, but I do still use MMO. Its great for freeing up sticky lifters which normal oil won't do. I also use it in the gas frequently since we have 10% or more ethanol fuel around here.

I also use it to free up stuck engines on antique tractors that have sat in the woods for years. I wouldn't consider myself "an additive guy" but Marvel is the one additive I do trust.

It clearly worked for you, but hard to tell if it helped or not.

I did a high temp oil deposit experiment once and some dino oils had lots of high temp deposits. The same oils mixed with MMO had no deposits. I was surprised to see that and don't know why the difference.

Also, MMO piston soaks helped me with oil consumption (but only partially).

That made me a believer, but I use it for cleaning only.

I like the stuff, have used it for years. Its the only oil and gas additive I've used. There are some here that won't use it. And thats fine.
I've seen it work, and really think its a great product. I will continue to use it as well.

At like $14.79 for 1 gal, WALLY WORLD can keep it. I use ST 5w30 in both of my trucks with KWIK FILL gasoline which comes from BRADFORD PA, not Brentford, which I read in another post. This is incorrect.

Any good oil such as SUPER TECH, PYB, VWB, CASTROL, MOBIL 1, MOBIL PRODUCTS shouldnt need MMO, or Kreen. My 2 cents

+2

Depending how much MMO you put in, it can really thin out the oil, which is something you and the engine may not want. Modern oils have improved drastically and they all recommend against oil additives. While there are some here that will recommend it for oil, especially if you have sludge, there are many that don't think that it is necessary anymore. I have tried it both in the fuel and oil.

This is true if you buy the car new and change the oil at the proper intervals with the above oils. As we all know, many people don't do that, so MMO has its place. LOL

Thanks to both you jeepman, and capa for the rec's. I have NEVER put MMO or KREEN in any of my sumps at all. I was taught by my grandfather to use a quality oil, as he used Pennzoil/Wolfs Head, and thats it, never a prob
