2007 Mazda MX5 (Miata) ATF fluid?

The manual just says to use JWS3309 fluid. Anyone changed their fluid with good resuts with a "non dealer" fluid.

Exxon-Mobil(or Esso) ATF-3309, Toyota T-IV, Aisin-Warner JS3309, etc. are all good stuff.

This thread speaks of a 2001 I think but, should be the same situation.
I did a quick scan but, check post #5...should be reliable data.

I found some "Valvoline Import Multi-Vehile Full Synthetic ATF" at O'Riely's that was about $6 a quart. I used it because it said right on the back of the bottle that is was compatable with JWS 3309 and a lot of other ATF's.

I dropped the drain plug on the trans and drained out a tad less than two quarts was all. No dip stick just a fill hole like a transfer case so I just put back in two quarts. After several weeks of driving it has always shifted fine. I believe I will change it this way about one a year.

I have been using Castrol Import Multi-Vehicle ATF for all of our vehicles:

Lexus RX-300 = Toyota T-IV or ATF-3309

Nissan Altima = Nissan Matic-D

Mazda 3 = Mazda M-V

So far, so good!
