My experience with driving summer only tires (Kumho Ecsta 712) in cold conditions is that traction is adequate (although slightly impaired) down to 30°F, as long as the pavement is clear and dry. However, ANY amount of frozen precipitation (even a heavy frost) on the road makes driving dangerous. YMMV.
