Just purchased a Craftsman LT1500 Riding Mower W/ B&S 17.5 HP Silver Series Intek Engine. This Engine doesn't have an oil filter and is used to cut about a .5 acre lawn. Was wondering what Oil to use in it? I am located in Virginia and we cna get close to 100 degrees in the summer.

My vote is for a high detergent sae30w in the summer, however B&S approves a multi vis in lower temps. The Briggs & Stratton web site has a list of approved viscosity ranges per air temps, and minimum api certifications.

+1 on hate2work's recommendation, I use it as well and it appears to be a fine oil for the $$$, and a real synthetic with no wax too

For the warranty period, RTFB. Brand names abound, but meet the requirements set forth for weight, etc that are outlined in your mower's operating manual.
