1993 Volvo 240 wagon (Dana 30)

Out: Phillips 66 85W-140
In: Valvoline HD 80W-90

Differential was rebuilt. Shop fills with 85W-140 which is too heavy for this unit.

2010 Tacoma DCSB (1gr-fe), 42,909 miles

Rear Differential:
Out: factory fill 75w85
In: Starfire full synthetic 75w90

Front Differential:
Out: Factory Fill 75w85
In: Starfire 80w90

The factory fill in the front diff was in really bad shape so I refilled it with some cheap 80w90, I will change it out again with synthetic 75w90 at the next oil change.

Transfer Case:
Out: Factory fill 75w90
In: Amsoil 75w90 (GL-4)

The rear differential and transfer case fluids were in great shape (looked almost new with a minimal amount of fuzz on the rear diff magnet, it did have an odd sliver of metal stuck to it but being the factory fill with close to 10 years of use on it I’m not too worried about it.

Break in after differential rebuild seems to be complete. No metal on the magnetic drain plug.

Finally got around to doing my rear diff fluid change on my 13 Ram Hemi QC 4x4 today.

It is a LSD with 3.55 gear ratio.

Out went the factory fill at 79,000 km's (49,000 miles) and in went Pennzoil 75W-140 syn with the FCA friction modifier.

The gear oil that came out was quite dark but I have seen worse. Not a lot of silver/streaking but I was also surprised with the amount of foam/bubbles in it? I did a quick 5-7 mile drive before doing it and drained it within 5 minutes after arriving home. Is this normal to see bubbles/foaming? Not a lot but enough to notice it easily.

Hopefully tomorrow, weather and time permitting, I'll get around to doing the front?

How did the front diff fluid look? I’m getting ready to do a 2016 4Runner with about 25k on it. On our Tacoma’s the first front diff fluid change has always looked pretty rough. You can see the 2010 Tacoma front diff fluid I changed at just shy of 43k in a post above.
