Hey Fellas,
I have a Lombardini 6LD 435. Its a single cylinder diesel, powering a generator head. Its an older unit(late 90's) but just 100 hours.
I want to pick a crankcase oil that will provide the best protection and maybe add some longenvity. The motor gets about 2-4 hours runtime per week in the winter months(Nov. - May). 1 hour a month other times.
The manual suggests a straight weight oil depending on temp conditions, but I was thinking of going to a quality 15-40W, like Delo or Rotella, to provide more protections in particular on startup. Then I got to thinking about synthetics. What's the concensus regarding the syns, in particular Royal Purple for THIS application?
Thanks in advance for the insight.
Best Regards,
