I still only think the regular husky (and stanley) are good tools for the low price you pay. Most of my love is for the husky pro.
It was a standard pear head half inch drive from Craftsman. I am really not to sure what happened but the drive selector jammed up and wouldn't click to the right or left, rendering it useless. That is the second one I have had that happen to.
That is one thing Craftsman has over many other brands though, they are still made in the USA. Most of my tools that are not husky pro are craftsman just for that reason.
All my Husky Pro tools are made in Taiwan. Most of my regular husky tools are made in china. There are only a few regular husky and Stanleys that are made elsewhere.
I might catch some flack for this but country of manufacture has almost nothing to do with quality these days. Times have changed and many companies had to start sending their manufacturing to china. The thing that really matters is American quality control and warranty service.
In other words, Stanley (husky and all the others under it) is still an American company with American quality, they just produce over seas. When it comes to things like tools, I care about performance, durability and value, pretty much in that order. The husky tools (mostly husky pro) are one of the best performers I have found and can really take a beating (craftsman, not so much). I wait for sales and I always get a 10% military discount from the home depot, which sears does not give me.
Keeping all this in mind, Husky is very hard to beat no matter how you look at it.
