My mom just picked up a old Singer commercial sewing machine and it has a oil sump and it needs to be filled with oil. I was thinking 30W non detergent oil. However, commercially available oil is ISO 22 which is about 10-20W. Should I just use the thinner oil?

You can go to a sewing machine store and buy Singer sewing machine oil, or get it online.
One of the best light oils for sewing machines and other like applications is straight Marvel Mystery Oil.

A 10 weight SA rated oil is fine for the application.
Farm and Fleet, Farm and Ranch, and even Wally World has it.
White mineral oil would be better since it would be non-staining. Walgreens should have that.
