Hello everyone, I have a quick question. I have a 99 S500 mercedes.

I love amsoil and I use it exclusivly, however the guys at the mercedes dealership have a way of scaring people into believing that the Mercedes Transmission fluid is the only one to use in the car.

I have been told that AMSOIL ATF is infact fine, and probably even better than the mercedes OEM stuff.

anyone have any Insight?

Thanks a lot,

Mike

I think that Cruzin means that if the ATF is a different color then the dealer will immediately deny the repair, based on the color only. (Even though the Amsoil is probably better, it is DIFFERENT and that's the way a lot of dealers work.)

Are the transmissions known to have problems? What is the chance of a trans going bad that gets good maintenance?
Their Tranny fluid is awesome stuff. As long as it meets specs I would use it.

Amsoil should guarantee your trans. Call them and tell them your concerns.

I understand this, but since the car is a 99, the warranty is loooooong gone on this car, so its more or less not an issue.

yeah but no one hears from the HUGE silent majority who have no stories.

Forum Amplification. It greatly distorts the truth sometimes.

Note that we have a NAG1 in the family, which is virtually a duplicate of your gearbox, and it loves Amsoil.

Better not. The dealer's owner's daughter's boyfriend said it might turn to battery acid if the age of Aquarius is in retreat.

Book it and bank it!

9.1 quarts total.

Amsoil ATF will be more than fine.

Some folks will just say something won't work with no knowledge at all, to either act intelligent, talk you out of a product for their own personal reasons or attempt to scare you or other??.....it happens here as well. Some folks are just odd.
