Valvoline 5w40 MST...

Why? Are you draining early just to get the Valvoline out? That, IMO, is crazy.

I guess we must be, since we are driving a $70k+ SUV to save a few mpg.

A few of my reasons to dump the Valvoline:

1. We have ONLY run Mobil 1 in our MB vehicles with fantastic results (over 350k miles between 2 cars, and neither burns a drop of oil)...why change anything with the new MB?

2. We have seen seemingly unbelievable mileage increases with the 5w40 ESP oil over the previous 0w40 in our e320 cdi

3. F*ck Valvoline. They claim 229.51 spec on several of their Synpower bottles, including the 5w40 at Autozone (which does not say MST on it, but could be the same oil) and even their 20w50 (which does NOT show 229.51 approval on ANYTHING published by MB).
