Laminate countertop for a workbench?

oh...forgot to mention the top shelf isn't done...that is why the legs look too tall on the left side...when the final piece is on there, it will be flush.....only materials are fifteen 2x4's and one 4'x8' sheet of plywood/wood. and lots of 3" screws...
 
another good idea for a table is to go talk to your local high school Ag. or vocational dept. if they are good, they can build some amazing stuff. the one at the school i used to work at could build stuff that could be sold in stores like entertainment centers......after the competitions, they would usually be sold as a fundraising project. the Ag. shop guys are usually pretty good a welding and can usually make something for the cost of materials and a donation to their program...... I made a donation to them for letting me use their hydraulic press.... they even had a computerized plasma cutter....it was pretty nice.
