Other than regular oil, that is.

I can't find an old thread where people discussed what they liked to use in their oil squirt can for general household purposes.
I recall some interesting responses such as gear oil.

I currently use spray lubes such as Tri-Flow, 3 in 1 and a few other sprays, but I find that the sprays are pretty messy, where a squirt can should be more controllable.
I'm considering Tri-Flow (expensive!), as it has worked small miracles on a couple of hinges.

What is a good all-purpose household lube to use in the oil can? I prefer low or no odor and good availability.

I have one that has gear oil in to lube the wheel axles on my lawnmower. The other one has motor oil, whatever I have left over.

I have thicker stuff in mine, part ATF and part gear oil. I don't like to lubricate household items and then see all the dirt stuck to it later, some lubes aren't as polar i suppose.

SL-10 from MPC. It's an oil grease combination with lots of EP for boundary conditons common with things lubed by an oil can. Sticks great as well.
