It depends on which TC you have:

Quote:

Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid
Torque-Drive™ Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATD)
Transfer Case,NVG 149.....GLS[4]
Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid
Torque-Drive™ Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATD)
Transfer Case,NP241, NP243.....GLS[4]
Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid
Torque-Drive™ Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATD)
Transfer Case,NVG 236, 246.....SLF[5]
No AMSOIL Product Recommendation

GM autotrac II is most likely what belongs in there. its a blue fluid that somehow differs from ATF, but is for most intents and purposes an ATF.

based upon the reccomendations from Amsoil, Id venture to guess that it is a highly friction modified ATF...

Best to run your vin at the parts desk of a few dealers and see what the part is they find for it.

If it's a Tahoe should have the Auto track(Auto 4x4 button on
the dash)thus you need to use the auto track(blue)fluid..

use only the stuff from your GM dealer...(price is reasonable)

you'll need 3qt's(with a little left over iirc)

After a little more reading, I found that you are right. I put the truck up on the lift to check the fluid level and was suprised to find regular red ATF fluid. It has now been changed to blue. Thanks guys for all your help..
