Notice the fuel dilution and small rise in wear metals. This is due to less freeway driving and more short trips on the last half of this UOA. I used the WRX less for my 22mi each way commute, only once or twice a week and my wife used it for shorter trips, running errands, etc.

I would not run the oil any longer than this as I think that if I ran it past 9k miles like Blackstone suggests under these conditions, a couple things would happen. One, the oil would be in the car close to a year with the reduced miles on it. Two, more time spent with slightly fuel diluted oil will increase wear.

I will actually reduce UOA intervals back down to 7.5k mi and see how things go with the new driving habits.

In the sump now is Amsoil ASL 5w30 and a Wix oil filter.

Any comments?

BTW, for commuting I was taking our old '95 Civic (35-38mpg on my commute) that we recently sold and bought a '08 Prius (45-48mpg on my commute). Both are a lot better than the 25-27mpg in the WRX, especially considering that the WRX needs premium fuel! Especially now that my commute has recently extended to 27mi from 22mi. Driving the Prius to work instead of the WRX saves enough money to pay for half of lunch!

This gives me hope for my M1 holding up. I left my WRX 6 months ago with my girlfriend while I play in Iraq, and somehow she's managed over 7k miles on the car. For now I'll just pretend your data is similar to what's going on in my car

Dave's uoa's are always very good. The highway mileage probably helps a lot.

Another Blackstone recommendation to extend the interval when you have fuel dilution.

Good UOA though with that long OCI! I'm sure the Amsoil will do well, but you don't need me to tell you that.

Yeah, I expect the Amsoil to do well, you can see that the last time I ran Amsoil it produced the lowest wear numbers I've ever seen.

Hmmm...I don't think I see where Amsoil did any better?? They are all so similar.

Well ..they all looked good ..but M1 only matched Amsoil in noise levels and exceeded it on many. Still nothing to sneeze at in the battery of tests. They all were excellent. Amsoil was the oil of distinction, however minor.
