Okay folks we were almost there.

I KNOW you want to discuss it and we are fine with that. BUT we NEED for everyone to stick to the FACTS of the trial and keep the comments BITOG style. With respect to the board and its members.

Please don't get personal. Please don't inject off topic content to stir up others. Just keep it civil.

Lets prove to each other that we can do it the right way!

Thanks in advance.

it's an ugly topic and no one was there. last time no one who said bigoted or racist things was criticized, just those who criticized THEM. at the best it's going to be a bunch of rabid vigilante know it alls.

Not sure what to say except that the original out come could have been much different if just one person let stuff go.
As far as everything else? I don't know what to say. Just glad I don't have to decide.

So you then are suggesting that we just not discuss it at all?

We can discuss what was stated in the trial and its outcome.

I can stop this thread with no problem. If folks don't want it I'm okay with it.

Teapot meet kettle.
I understand the excitement, once the transcript becomes public perhaps a fact based discussion can arise however if he last 2 locked threads are any indication its obvious some of our newer members have a tough time discussing and reduce themselves to insults and resort to name calling.
In other news my napa seems to have ultra by the pallet load now. In 60 days they went from nothing to pallets.
Come and get it. Only 71 bucks a jugs plus taxes.
I'll buy it all when it goes on clear out. Those are Amsoil prices

People want to talk about it, just my personal opinion, it won't stay friendly. It is a poor situation with a poor outcome.

The one thing I do not like about this trail is that both sides are really twisting things out like crazy...

Still on the fence on this one...

One thing I find very interesting is that at least in the mass media (although not sure it if has actually been brought up in the court room) was the question of why Martin didn't simply call 911 himself when he saw Zimmerman following instead of engaging him in a physical confrontation which we know is a fact, even if the details are not clear. Martin had equal responsibility to avoid a confrontation as much as Zimmerman did but I sure haven't heard this mentioned.

I also believe that the Judge, when she queried Zimmerman about whether or not he would take the stand in his defense was IMPROPER protocol. That was a question for his counsel to handle. Frankly this Judge wants to make Zimmerman look bad, it has been apparent the entire time. She is very biased.

Also I didn't know that the city fired the police chief and the head detective because NEITHER of them wanted to press charges against Zimmerman. The reason why they didn't was because they understand that under the "stand your ground" LAW a person has the right to use DEADLY FORCE when he is in fear for his life, when Martin was pounding away on Zimmerman the only thing the defendant was thinking was, "I think this crazy punk is going to kill me with his bare hands."

The fact is that bare hands can be considered a lethal weapon as they have in many cases in the past.

I would have done the same thing that Zimmerman did if presented with the same scenario. You can bet that Zimmerman told the kid to get off him but Martin simply kept on beating him. Deadly force was reasonable action in this case.

We can all be cool about this is we want to. I believe bitogers are a cut above the rest and we all want to remain civil.

Personally, I believe Zimmerman will walk. While there is no doubt that he killed TM, his motives were purely self preservation. He didn't pull his gun and shoot TM in cold blood, but in the struggle, fired and TM was killed.

the stand your ground law is stupid and the liabilities will make the state back off on it. myself I prefer CC/OC and castle law which my state has. In my opinion Z abused his carry rights.

A trial should stick to the facts. Seeing as how no one saw the altercation, it is a case of "he said, he said" . Proving anything beyond a reasonable doubt will be impossible. My gut feeling is that Zimmerman was trying to play cop. But thats a gut feeling, not fact. The lesson for Anyone who conealed carries, like myself, is be alert, observe, and do not become involved unless you have to! Anytime you have to shoot someone, no matter how jus tifie d you may be, you are sure to face legal consequences and financial repercussions and an inflammed anti-gun media. American Thinker had a good treatise on the subject. The bestvway to win a war is to not get into one.

It doesn't matter that you "think" it is a "stupid" law because it is in FACT a legal right under Florida law.

Hopefully the Jury isn't swayed by emotion but by the actual events and the letter of the law. The reason the prosecution wanted women is because they could more easily appeal to their more emotional reactions. Not good.

Bottom line is that it is a certainty that Zimmerman only continued to follow Martin and in fact Martin confronted Zimmerman. Martin is largely responsible because HE instigated a confrontation, not the other way around. Martin failed to use reasonable behavior and call 911 and request that police intervene and question Zimmerman, instead Martin attacked Zimmerman. We know this is true.

A citizen isn't allowed to disagree with the law?

What is "stupid" about Stand Your Ground? It simply states that if you are in a public place that you have a legal right to be, then you have a right to be left alone unmolested by scum and riffraff and that should you be accosted, you have a right to defend yourself, not retreat.
