That's really an achievement. It's not a speed daemon, but the combination of large capacity, 5400 rpm and low power consumption should make it very practical for most laptops.
I just got one of the those pocket hard drives from Western Digital. It is a 6 gig USB drive in a 1" form factor. I think they may eventually replace the memory sticks since the HD goes at full USB 2.0 speed while the memory sticks only run a small fraction of it. The transfer rate makes a big difference.
