This is the Wix 51085 filter that was run on my buddy's 2001 Jeep Cherokee with the 4.0L engine. It was run for about 5,000 miles with Pennzoil Yellow Bottle 10w30. This Jeep is used for mostly short trips and he drives it pretty hard. When it came time to change the oil, I decided to hack open the filter... literally with a hacksaw.

The filter was in good shape, nice straight media and sturdy construction. I'm going to run these Wix filters on my own Cherokee from now on.

Wix make some of the most appealing looking filters. The polished end caps just make the thing sparkle, Wix have some of the most precise media and end caps.

I was impressed by the construction of the Wix filter. I've cut open a few different Purolators and the Wix felt much sturdier. I've used Purolators for a few years now, but for certain applications I will be switching to the Wix.

Hopefully they are. Lol. I have an 820s on my dads 6.2 that I am going to cut open in about 2000 miles.

Looks great! I've always liked the Wix filters. Are the new O'Reilly house filters just Wix w/nitrile adbv?

No qualms with WIX whatsoever...well except for their cheap combo valve. Great looking filter! Thanks for sharing. If Fram's were non-existent, I would probably run a WIX =P

They don't put the combo valve on all of their filters -- just on the lower line NAPA.

And near as I can tell, it works fantastic. I like 'em.

The new O'Reilly MicroGard oil filter are very similar/if not the same as Napa Silver and Carquest Red oil filter. They even switch to Wix's part number too. However, I haven't since any combo valve on the Silver or MicroGard lately; just dome-end valves.
