good morning oilguy hivemind,

i have a 1990 toyota corolla diesel 1c engine. i burned all 4 glow plugs. Glow plugs are not heating. changed 3 out of 4 plugs. one bad plug is still installed because it was hard to remove. can 1 bad plug that is installed throw off the glow plug controller and deactivate the glow plug controller?

i have the stock glow plug system which is a preheating timer, which controls the time the glow plugs get heated based on temp sensor, the glow plug main relay and a second relay, after glow relay.

thanks

j

It would shorten the time with every bad glow plug back in the day of my IDI 7.3 Navistar V8 diesel. If 3 or more were bad it would come on for about .5 of a second. With all 8 functioning sometimes it would stay on for 20-30 seconds depending on temp. For your vehicle? Don't know. Change that last one and take it out of the equation.
