I keep hearing about getting a new o ring when replacing wheel bearings but I noticed the last one I bought didn’t even come with a new one. Are we supposed to always buy a new one? Vs what happens if we just don’t install one at all or just use the old one?

Thx

i believe its called the inner spindle o ring, i read some other forums and people keep saying to replace it

hmm sorry im not very mechanicy myself but does this link help?

Any idea what it does or if it’s really necessary?

Going by what Kryptonite says:

"Our O-Ring is meant to provide a barrier to protect the wheel bearing and axle of internal corrosion.
We recommend replacing this with every Wheel Bearing replacement as it is easy to reach and will prevent corrosion on your new bearings."
