What's wrong with this picture?

Carb gasket and diaphragm as I found it in the 4.5Hp Briggs a friend gave me last week... Yes it was in this approx position when installed, obviously someone was monkeying with it...

With fresh replacement it started first pull and runs like new again...

Just changed one identical to it, don't lose that little spring!

man that part is garbage. I have done several. Briggs should have a number to call and they should just mail you several free ones each time you call. Horrid design.

Does it mater how old the mower or are the free diaphrams for new engines only?
