Whats the micron rating of the hydro oil filters ?

My old gravely 991088 compact pro 34 has a pump and wheel motor hydraulic system, not the integrated transaxle. I do believe the pumps are hydro gear, but the wheel motors are parker.

Here's gravely's part number for this filter. Supposedly it's a wix filter and only 40 microns. That seems kind of like a large micron size doesn't it?

The filters I just put on the hydrostatic system of a Toro were 20 micron.

These types of hydraulic filters are designed for high flow. It's not like a hydraulic filter that's installed on a high pressure low volume pump running a hydraulic cylinder.

Maybe 40 microns is a little loose, but if it's the manufacturer part number then it's supposed to be that way so that it isn't too restrictive on the system.

For comparison, one Baldwin hydraulic filter for Caterpillar equipment is 50% @ 3 m, 98.7% @ 10 m.

Another Baldwin hyd filter for Hyundai loaders is 50% @ 5 m, 98.7% @ 25 m.

Hydraulic filters run anywhere from 45 micron to 5 micron. Most I see are around 20 to 25 micron.
Every once in a while you'll come across a 1 or 2 micron filter.
I put an 8 micron on my log splitter.
Had a 25.

They can make the filter larger to reduce restriction if needed
