What Year Did you Start Using Synthetic Motor Oil?

I used my first Synthetic oil around 2002 when I drove my first used 96 Ford Escort. I remembered using Castrol Syntec 5w40 made in Germany aka the GC. Lots of people having fun hunting for it.
I switched to Amsoil Red cap until my car's engine was dead.
I am still using Mobil 1 5w-20 for my car today.

2012 when I bought my Toyota Tacoma 2.7L new off the dealer. 0W-20 since.

In 1975 .... I put Amsoil 10w-40 in my 1974 Chevelle Lagua 400 V8.

Since 1972

1972 ish. Amsoil Gear oil, have changed to Mobil 1 75w-90 ,however I have been using Pennzoil Platinum products for the last 6 - 7 years when they came out with the GTL technology.

If i could find a local place to purchase the Pennzoil Platinum gear oil i would / will drop the Mobil 1 . Zip 06111 Central Connecticut

I am reluctant to purchase on line as i have been hacked previously so no personal info on line .

2010 Valvoline 5w30 in Saturn Vue that had sludge. To expensive at Good Year so I used Quakerstate Ultimate then settled for PP 5w30 for 40k until traded it in (always a quart between 5k oil changes). About to go with Valvoline Advanced for yearly oil changes on next change as family member is running PP and it is using oil between changes

1997 I started using Mobil 1 in my 1984 Buick Regal and haven't used a dino oil since. IIRC it was around $4/Qt back when the regular Mobil was going for 89¢
