I've asked this before. Thought I would ask again to see what current reaction is.

I have a '06 VW with the 2.0T FSI (turbo gas) engine. VW calls for a 502.00 @ 5W-40. Currently using M1 0W-40. I use 5K miles for OCI. I know its probably a bit to short of an OCI but this car is my toy and I like to pamper it. Car has 15K on it now. Uses no oil at all between changes.

Wanted to get input from others on oil recommendations now that this engine has been out for a while now.

Suggestions...?

Thanks,

David

M1 0W-40 is a good choice and keep in mind that more important than one synthetic vs another in this engine is keeping the fuel dilution down. If I were you, I'd hire Terry Dyson to make that happen. Do it now and the advice will pay off for most of the life of the car.

Use any oil on VW's 502.00 approved oils list, until your warranty expires. Deviating from VW's "precious" can potentially cause unnecessary headaches in the event of an engine part failure, while under warranty.

FWIW, I'm running Q Advanced Engine Synthetic 5w30 in my '00 VW GTI 1.8T. The engine feels the same as with every other oil I've used, but I realize that doesn't mean anything.
