Is it doing good on Castrol? Any oil consumption? If not Id just stick with it. If it was using oil, Id try a Castrol High Milelage. But Id stay with Castrol. All the new oils out there got you curious? Me too. Its like walking into a ice cream store anymore.

Most of the cars I've gotten over the past almost 30 years were well used (approx 100,000 miles). I used AMSOIL flush and changed to AMSOIL synthetics. Didn't keep tail lights from burning out, didn't keep from being rear-ended at traffic light. However, didn't have any lubricant-related problems, running yearly oil drains.

Will your car continue to run using non-synthetic? Most likely. Is it most cost effective? You be the judge.

Your choice should be dictated by a few things.

Is there a consumption component to the engine?

What's your current annual mileage (you didn't state that you were the person who put on the 100k miles)

Are you willing to leave the synthetic oil in long enough to justify the added expense (long enough can be either a time or mileage factor)?

Is your severity of service enough to justify the added expense of a synthetic even if that service had to be shorter? (I'll assume "no").

You could upgrade to Castrol HM 5w30 if you want; that'll give you some added thickness, extra detergents, plus seal conditioners.

Merkava! what has gotten into you?
Have the doctorns found a cure for chronic maxlife usage syndrome?

Yes I am original owner. Does not burn a drop of oil.No clatter. All highway miles and what can I say it is Toyota you can not beat em. Gastrol has been great its been in all my vehicles and no sludge or no problems. But I must say I use a additive called BG MOA. That also seems to do very well.
