What is your favorite D. A pads and backing plate?

So today I bought a DA polisher at Harbor Freight. I read the HF backing plate and pads are junk. What would your recommendation on a backing plate and pads be for a rookie who will use it maybe a couple times a year?

I like the Griot's 5" backing plate kit. Comes with a few pads and they're decent.

The HF pads are not junk. They dont last as long as lake country ccs pads but they put on a good shine.

But at $5 each its a pretty good deal. I pair mine with meguiars ultimate polish and it does everything from finishing wax to correction.

I also have HF DA. I also have Lake Country Buffing Pads, and my buddy has Griot's 5" DA and pads. The HF pads work just fine for me.


I would recommend just using the large HF pads as the HF DA has plenty of power to use them. If you want to spend the money get a set of 3" backing plates and pads they have really come in handy. Makes working on lots of places on the car a lot easier.
