John - your stash is 100 oil changes. How many years is that for your household?

You should be able to find an auto parts store or municipal garage nearby that will recycle it for you. My town has recycling drums for used oil and used antifreeze. You may also be able to flush it down your house sewer if your wastewater plant is ok with it. Contact your municipality. Don't throw it in the garbage!

If you're in a city and connected to the sanitary sewer you can, in many places, pour it down the drain as long as it isn't heavily contaminated with oil. Call the sewer treatment folks to make sure first, though.

curbside recycling, both oil and antifreeze. It's hugely convenient, though it probably only makes sense in densely-populated areas.

That's what they tell us to do here where i have the little shop, they claim its not harmful at the waste water treatment plant.

Antifreeze, besides contaminants in it, will eventually break down into water, carbon dioxide and other basic components. Its harmful to life and fish so I wouldn't toss it anywhere and especially not in a storm drain, but a lot of sanitary sewer systems can happily handle it just fine.

As for me the shop I work at has drums that get drained, I throw mine in there.

Yep. pour mine down the toilet.

I looked up my municipality and called my friend that works there at the plant, he said ok to dump it down the toilet. I had some that was laced with engine oil from the radiator I replaced for a friend with a 02' stratus. Took that stuff to work and dumped it in our drum.

go to earth911 dot com and they have a list of nearby hazerdous waste places in your area. Mines about 12 miles away, so I store it for a bit so I only go out there about once a year.
