We are in Norway

Specifically Oslo and now Bergen. Almost all taxi/Ubers are EV. Lots of Teslas, a few Toyota EVs. Norway gets about 97% of its electricity from hydroelectric plants.

This country is going GREEN.
Congrats on travel. You are in the minority being a traveler on this site. Yes-many countries in that part of the world are miles ahead environmentally than the U.S.

i was there in August 2018 and electric Vehicles were already everywhere. i rented a Golf and went to Trondheim and back to Oslo. Stavanger, Bergen and Lillehammer. Tunnels are insane.

They are ahead because they are a much smaller country and have waterways that can be dammed for hydroelectric production. They also have free healthcare because they are small and don't have to spend on a military.
BTW..Greenies in this country hate hydroelectric dams even though they make lot's of sense.

...
This is not true. They are a NATO member and have been from the very beginning. NATO comes with mandatory military spending.
Their military spending is half of what the US spends, in percentage of GDP. 1.6%-something vs 3.4% for the US.

With this logic, US healthcare should be 50% of free 😇

Norways simply has chosen a taxation model with which the US wouldn't agree. People are ok with paying insane taxes there, in exchange for top notch services.

It doesn't hurt that while they have managed to cover their electricity needs with solutions that go towards the sane side, they are the world's 4th largest gas exporter and the 7th world's largest oil exporter. They are in the top 10 oil & gas producers in the world. It's just that they export it almost all.

Politics are a no-go here, and discussing this further would go smack dab there.

Don't confuse us with facts.😆

It works well in Norway, not much in the way of long distance travel. Contrast that with Florida, just getting myself out of the state in a Model 3 takes 2 charge stops.

Ahead is subjective … also Norway is the size of a postage stamp compared to the USA both in population and geography.
One county on Long Island NY is almost the entire population of Norway for example and New Mexico is close to the same land mass of Norway.

Cannot be compared to the USA

I'm sorry to bother with facts again, but Norway is close to three times the distance north to south what Florida is. About 1100 miles, and that's if we stick to Oslo > North trips, which would be like taking Miami as a starting point in Florida.

If we take the geographical south of Norway (like starting from Key West in Florida) - we'd have to add another 250 miles. And I'm being nice, as the southernmost point of Norway is more like Monroe county in Florida, not like Key West.
Lyngdal to Kirkenes is 1700 miles if you stay in Norway. Google would route you through Sweden and save you 150 miles.

Norway is small in population, not too large in surface area, but in no way small as a country. Sort of like Chile. And their road infrastructure is complex, as their geography is merciless. And you can drive very, very long trips there. In Teslas.

Once again - sorry for the facts 😇 . Stepping out. Baby steps.

Norway has expensive fuel, but Norway is a huge oil exporter, and money goes to the sovereign fund, or officially, the Government Pension Fund Global.
Currently, their fund is above $2 trillion and basically guarantees the financial security of future generations. That is by far largest sovereign fund in the world.
Norway has a huge petroleum industry (Statoil), and basically, they sell it elsewhere, and most of the profits fill that fund. They on other hand choose to go EV, hydroelectric.
Some 20 years ago, I was talking at some event with one of the founders of Greenpeace, who left the organization because he was pushing hydroelectric as renewable, and others were just, well, not open to it. It is that game of black and white.
As for 1.6% of military spending, Norway could do better. They border Russia, and considering their finances, they should be spending 2% of NATO's minimum, which they agreed to some 20 years ago. I think current events will change that dynamic.

They have an impressive DCFC network which really helps EV feasibility. Thankfully the USA’s DCFC network is growing quickly too - that’ll really help EV adoption.

Branden Flasch and Out of Spec have had some great Norway DCFC content lately.
