Apr 29, 2019, 329, 980 miles - Added a mix of 2 qts 5W30 and 4.5 qts 10W30 for this fill, primarily just to use up some oil laying about the garage.
Dec 5, 2019, 334,716 miles - added 1/2 qt 10W30.
Jan 26, 2020, 335,614 miles - added 1/2 qt 5W30 PP HM.
Jul 25, 2020, 338,022 miles - Oil change.
OCI 8,026, time on oil, 15 months.

Changing the oil this time around, I noticed a little seepage on the underside. Meant to take a closer look but it was just too hot to be under there. Maybe I'll get to it soon. So it may not be oil consumption but a small leak, either way, I'm not alarmed.

Had more miscellaneous oil laying about so filled with 5 qts 10W30 PP HM and 1.5 qt 0W20 PP.

See you guys in another 15 months or so.

Nice report, that's for sure. Congrats on 330K on a Toyota. We do a lot of short tripping on ours, not sure if either will reach 330K but I'd like to try.

15 months to drive 8000 miles--you do a lot of short tripping yourself?

Not a lot of short tripping, I have a 2nd car that I share the miles pretty evenly between, 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. And remember the miles are low these last few months because of the pandemic, we were in lockdown for a time in Florida and I still don't go out unnecessarily.

Let's see approximately 1 ppm native iron + 4 ppm iron from initial fill shock.... you forgot to include the iron for the other 7000 mi;)

At this rate I'm not sure it will ever wear out.

Is this the blend or full syn maxlife

Nice, 5 ppm Fe wear metal in 8k miles & 15 months, all on a SynBlend. That’s below the mythical 1ppm iron per 1k miles. Both Valvoline and Toyota did a good job here.

At the end you still had a retained TBN of 2.8 which is ample, and at KV100 = 9.95 cSt you are still in grade for a 30.

People sometimes get-up Valvoline for a lack of metallic adds in a VOA / UOA, the usual Moly & Boron thing. But there is more to an oil than a simple VOA can show and these excellent results indicates that this oil is working well.

I‘ve always had a soft spot for Valvoline synblends, you are using the MaxLife, while I’ve just come off a round of DuraBlend myself.

Thanks for sharing.

7ppm total wear??? That's high. Should improve after engine breaks in. Update us at 500k or 750k miles.

Timing belt motor... not enough HP to hurt itself...... the way a motor should be built. Also, has room for PH8a sized filters(and even longer ones).

I won't make any recommendations. Whatever you did for ~340k miles is working.
