How could you possibly know this on visual inspection, Not to sound or be ignorant but without analysis this is useless and uninformed information, and a bad rap for the product.

I know it does not sound very conclusive and I hate the visual as well. But these oils all showed a much thicker consistency than when new and were very dirty. Looking in the engine with a flashlight showed some engine sludge accumulating at less than 10,000 miles on the oci. Not an official analysis with hard number but a gut feeling with about 30 years of doing my own oil changes. It just did not look clean and pristine as when I would use mobil 1 or amsoil products. I tried to save some money using the supertec but was not happy with it. All of this was over 10 years ago so their products have likely changed but if you find a good product that works well and have been disappointed in another why try it again. Just sharing my experience and know it is not very scientific unfortunately so if they work for you go for it.

This, or my completely unscientific theory is that Boron is the reason an oil seems quieter than another one. PU has a good shot of Boron, as does the whole C-P lineup. Formula Shell conv and syn do too.

Honestly, people on this board have complained about noise from every oil manufacturer under the sun. Most will tell you that it doesn't mean anything. Since Mobil far outsells every other synthetic, we tend to see more complaints about it. I'm not a noise kind of guy and so have never really noticed "valve train" noise except many the one time I went from 0W-40 to 0W-20 in my V8.
