Such a weird announcement with Ferrari being the engine supplier and 2026 cars less than 12 months away. Haas must be in dire straits financially.

I dont think it is a matter of they "cant", as opposed to not really caring about winning. But I agree, if you are in in, you should be in it to win it.

Apparently Audi is going into F1 as well. I'm disappointed as it seems as if F1 didn't want Andretti racing with Cadillac backing.

Wasn't Gunther getting Ferrari engines, maybe with him gone so are the engines...?

Toyota has said they aren’t providing chassis or engines. I guess just stickers then.
Somewhat surprised Ferrari doesn’t have a clause prohibiting this. Maybe they don’t consider Toyota a competitor. I wouldn’t.

This explains what the arrangement will entail. Haas will continue to buy its drivetrain from Ferrari (through 2028 at least), but the design and manufacturing of the chassis will be now assisted by Toyota.

Apparently Audi is going into F1 as well. I'm disappointed as it seems as if F1 didn't want Andretti racing with Cadillac backing.

Current teams don't want to reduce the size of their share with the addition of a team (10 to 11 teams). I also think there was some concern about GM's commitment to a PU vs subcontracting it out to another entity and slapping a Caddy badge on the VC.

They bought Sauber and over the last year or two have been steadily increasing their ownership percentage of the team.

It's not uncommon for non-manufacturer teams.

The majority of teams use Mercedes or Ferrari engines.
The Red Bull teams use Honda and Alpine uses Renault (shuttering the division)
