Yeah, if you're not running tubes and have access issues they can be great.
I've had "right angle" valve stems in both 90 degree and 83 degree variants, and 83 is a safer bet than 90. In the case I remember with the 90, the inflation end had minimal clearance with the rim and I had to use an adapter to inflate the tire.
