Today I stopped by to say hi to my friend Bill who owns a shop. Guy brought this tire in that had blow out while the car was sitting in his garage. The car had been sitting, without moving for years. He didn't let the tires get so low that they would squad onto the rim, but they did slowly leak down and he would inflate them to max sidewall pressure every once in a while. He had reinflated them, walked out of the garage to get something, and when he was talking back toward the garage he heard the tire blow. This is the result. If you look very carefully, you can see the center of the tear is where the tire patch was in contact with the cement. Rarely do I visit he shop and not find something interesting.

I don't think that one's repairable.

Wow! I wonder if the tire had a defect and was close to blowing already that when parked, it was preserved until the inevitable happened.

I'd like to hear what CapriRacer says about it.

That pic brings back some memories. I put Radial T/As on my '83 Buick Skyhawk in 1988. 13 inch tires.
