How tight should oil plug be.On my 2000 protege the torque is 30-41 Nm.what a range I just tighten it with socket and socket wrench. The crush washer is changed every time to prevent leaks is there a danger of overtightening.I once torqued the oil filter and then I coudn't get it off.I just put that on as hard as I can by hand.I don't use the 3\4 turn after gasket contacts base method. How do you convert inch\pounds to foot\pounds and newton\pounds to foot pounds.I have a torque wrench but it only goes up to 265 inch\pound.

Oil pan should be snug, no need to over tighten you could damage the threads and never get it off again without damage.

If you are unsure what to do, maybe you should reconsider doing this yourself.

Conversion factors - Torques

Lb in = N-m / 0.11298
Lb ft = N-m / 1.3558

N-m = LB in X 0.11298
N-m = LB ft x 1.3558
