Thumbnail pictures on desktop show same generic photo.

I just noticed this over the last week or so. Whenever I save a new picture to the desktop, it shows as a generic thumbnail instead of the actual photo like before. Even some of the old pictures switch to the generic version after clicking on them. How can I revert back to the actual photo?

Try this: With the mouse anywhere on the desktop, do a right mouse click, then choose refresh from the options.

Your thumbnail cache is corrrupted likely . Guessing you have hundreds of thousands photos based on what you post here.

Under file explorer peek into diskclean up and thumbnails and I think toggle on/off or clean up. Not sure. Good luck
