A friend told me when he was changing his oil last night, the pan was sitting out for a while. He spotted his dog walking out of the garage with oil dripping from his mouth and nose. There was a trail of drips from the dog back to the oil pan. He figures the dog thought is smelled pretty good and so gave it a taste. Probably never do that again. I must admit, I do like the smell of used oil, which is just one more reason to change it myself.

I do not like the smell of used or new oil -- even though I'm a member here, and have been changing my oil since my first car. I don't think it would taste good either. Hopefully your friend also has a water bowl for his dog...

And doesn't leave the pan out when he changes the antifreeze!

NEVER intentionaly, but over the years I've gotten a taste more times than I care for. Far as I know, no ill effects, but it does taste BAAAD!!

and i hope his stupid a$$ brought him to the vet

Wait a minute. It wasn't antifreeze. I doubt the dog actually drank the stuff. Who would think a dog would even try to drink it? I don't think he was being stupid at all. Maybe the dog was stupid.

We had an area dog that would come into our waste treatment building at the plant. It was a massive black Lab. He'd find one of the many gloves laying around and offer to play tug-o-war with everyone. He'd look at you, see if you were friendly ..then run and find one of the stashed gloves. Run back and hold it there in his mouth. We named him "Sludge" due to his perpetually black tongue. Every once and a while a raccoon would wander in and find some food coloring spill to help themselves too.

Funny seeing a FD&C Yellow #(whatever) raccoon walking around. This was reduced when we were forced to have full fence integrity as part of being a hazmat approved site.
