Boy, got my eyes opened at AA last night. $8.09/qt for PP? $8.99 for M1, $9.59 for EP. All the dino was nearly $4.00 and curiously, YB Pennzoil was $3.39 for 5W20, $3.79 for 5W30. I suppose it's safe to say the refineries are NEVER to allow prices to drop to the old levels, no?

Around here, the average price per litre of conventional and semi-synthetic motor oil is $3.70. Motorcraft Synthetic Blend costs around $3 (cheaper if you buy a case of 12) and synthetics on the other hand, such as Castrol Edge and Mobil 1, are about $11 per litre.

I stocked up more than 80 quarts syn/dino/HDEO oils in '07 and '08 for very little $, some were as little as $0.49/qt or less. For a while, I tried to not buy anymore but I kept seeing good deals and could not resist, and had some remorse about buying too much oils that I could not use it all in 2-3 years. Now, I'm feeling good about bought those cheap oils, and I feel that I made excellent choices.

hahahah Chinamart. M1 is $26 for 5 quart jugs, 6.95 for quarts, Synpower 22.50 for 5 quarts, 6.95 for quarts, PP 23 for 5 quarts and 6.95 for a quart. All dino is under $4 a quart.

The WalMart closest to my house didn't have a single Mobil 1 5-quart jug in stock this afternoon. Bare shelves in the Mobil synthetic section... been that way for a while.

I use Napa HM 10W30, usually $3.09 or so per quart. Same as Valvoline for less money. If there is ever a good sale on it I'll stock up. The guys who have an oil stash are very lucky now with the high prices on oil nowadays.

Come up here (Canada), it's been like that for a while, and we don't even get the Mail-in's that you get sometimes to make it like $1 a quart etc...

Fall '05. 17 gallons of Delo400 SAE30 and 19 gallons of 15W40. All for $.99 each. Spring/Summer/Fall oil changes for $4 with a SuperTech filter.

The Advance Auto online special for Mobil 7500 still continues in my area, I collected another 18 qts for the stash at $0.95/qt just 2 days ago. Valvoline Truck and Suv semi-syn is $0.25/qt locally, but after having personally checked it in the stores it was all SL rated stuff.

After oil changes on all 3 cars I was feeling a little thin in the stash ( 170 qts ) so I acquired another 18. Might get another 18 this weekend if I can do it without the wife noticing.

Mine consists of only 10 jugs of PP 5w30 = 44 litres. Since that's enough for 3+ years of oil changes I won't be buying new oil for a while.. unless of course it's almost free. But that never happens up here in Canuckistan.
