Don't get it on your hands as it soaks in your skin and you cant wash 100% of the nasty smell off. The smell will go away eventually.

A lot of the compounds in it are BHT(butylated hydroxy toluene) derivatives. We use BHT a lot in lab chemicals in fairly small amounts to prevent peroxide formation(super dangerous and also easy to happen in things like short-chain ethers).

These compounds act both as a "sacrificial" oxidant and also a radical scavenger, both of which are good things in fuel stored for a long time. Most of Sta-Bil is kerosene, but is used as a solvent for all of the above to make it easy to dispense.
