Hi,

Im going to need to be traveling for work, and ill be coming back the night before or the day that I am going to be leaving for vacation.

If I come back that morning, Ill have an hour to change planes (both trips will be with the same carrier, but its through Dulles, which is always a mess). If I come back the night before, late in the evening, Ill be there and can get situated no problem.

But if I come in late Friday night, and have an early saturday flight, can I just sleep in the terminal? It would save me either (a) a hotel at the airport, (b) me driving back and forth twice, (c) me using a shuttle twice and, (d) I can use the ride to/from the airport that work will be paying for because of my mandatory travel also for my trip to/from the airport for vacation... so I wouldnt pay parking or for a shuttle for getting to and from the airport for vacation... Thats $50 more spending $ Ill have.

So, is it OK to sleep in the terminal?

Thanks!

JMH

Are you wondering if the sight of you sleeping in the airport will raise people's eyebrows as in "Look at that snoring feller over there..." or is at about a fear of waking up with your shirt unbuttoned and your pants missing? Or is it about worries regarding airport security, who might place a bomb blanket over you and try to detonate you?

Anyway, what I don't get is how anybody can possibly sleep in a (sort of) public place. I'd be afraid to be hauled off by animal control for drooling and growling.

lol... yeah Im just curious about the legality of sleeping there, since its not like I have a flight that was delayed or canceled or some such thing.

I dont want to get in at 10pm, with the intention of sleeping for my ~6am flight, and then being told that I have to leave, and end up having to pay for a hotel, a ride back to where I'm staying (45 minute drive each way), etc., and then have to go through the inconvenience of check-in and all that afterwards.

Call me cheap and lazy...

Quattro:

Just called and the rep that I talked to said there was absolutely no problem with me sleeping there!

Very interesting... now I have to wonder if Ill be able to get any sort of sleep anyway.

Might have to take a couple tylenol PMs to get the night set off right...

Thanks!

I've slept in a couple of airports between flights, but not that one.

It wasn't problem except the benches aren't all that comfortable, but you already knew that.

Consider a blanket, sometimes the AC is set abit agressively.

The airport shouldn't be very busy then, but expect the cleaning crews to be working around you.

I do it all the time. Find a nice spot stretch out and have a way to wake up.
