Went to a garage sale yesterday; guy had a few gallons of OLD antifreeze' "Traveller" brand (Tractor supply I believe?) but it's old.... seller's Dad has been gone (RIP) for over 10 years; jugs with metal cap and metal ring intact til I opened one of the jugs; still usable?

The standard answer you will get here is that it is good for 5 years. I call Prestone and asked how long it will last and was told 5 years. I asked what happpens to it after 5 years, and was told they had not tested it beyond 5 years. I have used some from my stash that is 10 years old and it was fine. I would not use the old stuff in a brand new car, but as long as there are no "clumps" or sediment it should be fine.

That's interesting, I emailed Prestone once with the same question and they said it was good "indefinitely." I have used 10 year old oil with no issues, shake it first!

I was going through my storage unit the other day and found a couple jugs of dino oil I still had from long ago. One was a 4 liter jug of Quaker State 5w30 SJ rated, unopened. Another was a Valvoline 4 liter jug of 10w30 SH/SJ rated also unopened. There was also a couple of 1 liter bottles of Quaker State Q-Horsepower 5w50 SJ rated "synthetic" oil. I remember using the 5w50 oil in a lawnmower I had. All of these oils are still usable, but I dont know what I will use them in, lol
