Hey everybody,

I just put in QSUD with a P1 in my 06 Scion tC which has the 2AZ-FE engine.

My driving is mostly 60% highway and 40% city driving. It sees redline at least once daily. It has an Injen cold air intake with an AMSOIL filter, a DME 4-1 Header, and Magnaflow catback exhaust.

I was thinking about doing a 7,500 OCI and then getting a UOA done

Does this sound reasonable?

Thanks

So do you think I should maybe take it to 8,500 or even 9,000 before taking a uoa?

You can do 7500 without a UOA, that will be fine. I've never seen one look bad in that short of time, which I would certainly notice and remember.

I wonder if my 2az has ever hit redline... hmm... I doubt it.

The QSUD is sufficient for what you do. Frankly I'd just say to run whatever synthetic is on sale for the next change, whether it be Pennzoil Platinum, Mobil 1, etc.

I've done 10k on QSUD 5w30 on a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer (the plain 4G94 2.0 L4) using a Purolator Pure One PL14610

Since Toyota engines are supposed to be good, I'm sure you can do 10k with no issues as long as everything is healthy in your engine.

Keep in mind the initial OCI for that engine from Toyota was 7500 miles. It wasn't until the 3.0 V6 sludge issues took everything to 5000 that it was shortened along with everything else.

Thanks for the great advice guys.

I think I'll push it to 10k and do a UOA.

I remember about two years ago when I didn't look into maintenance and did a little over 10,000 on ST dino and a ST filter, lol.

Eventually I did 4 consecutive OCI's at 4k miles with syns to clean out the possible sludge.
